Our Recent Projects

Every home is different. Here are a few examples of the roof window work we have carried out for homeowners across County Down and surrounding areas.

Three Timber VELUX Roof Windows Replaced, Newry

Location
Newry, County Down

Challenge
The homeowner had three ageing timber VELUX windows that had become difficult to operate and were showing signs of wear. The frames had deteriorated over the years and the windows were no longer providing a proper seal, leading to draughts and heat loss in the rooms below.

Solution
Gary removed all three existing timber units and replaced them with new maintenance-free top-hung VELUX windows. The new windows were fitted with duo blackout blinds, giving the homeowner full control over light and privacy. The installation was completed in a single day, with all areas left clean and tidy.

Result
The homeowner now has three modern, easy-to-use roof windows with excellent insulation and effective blackout blinds. The draughts are gone and the rooms feel noticeably warmer.

Pine VELUX Roof Window Replaced with Modern Polyurethane Unit

Location
Kilkeel, County Down

Challenge
An older pine VELUX window had reached the end of its serviceable life. The timber frame had swelled and warped over time, making the window difficult to open and close properly, and the seal around the unit had begun to fail.

Solution
Gary replaced the old pine unit with a new polyurethane top-hung VELUX window. Polyurethane frames are fully maintenance-free, highly durable and resistant to the kind of weathering that affects timber over time. The new window was fitted to manufacturer specifications with full weatherproofing around the frame.

Result
The customer has a modern, low-maintenance roof window that operates smoothly and provides a much better seal than the old timber unit. No painting, no swelling and no ongoing maintenance required.

New VELUX Roof Window Installed into Kitchen Diner Ceiling

Location
Newry, County Down

Challenge
The homeowner wanted to bring more natural light into a kitchen and dining area that felt dark throughout the day. The room had no existing roof window and relied entirely on side windows for daylight.

Solution
Gary cut a new opening in the ceiling and installed a large VELUX roof window, carefully ensuring the structural integrity of the roof was maintained and that all weatherproofing was completed to the highest standard. The unit was positioned to maximise the amount of daylight entering the room throughout the day.

Result
The kitchen and dining area is now bright and welcoming from morning through to evening. The homeowner described the difference as transformational, with natural light reaching areas of the room that had always been in shadow.
